If he plays his cards well, Senator Fred Outa will be the next Kisumu Governor.
But very few understand that the firebrand Senator's life has been full of struggles.
Born in Kisumu 53 years ago, the young Outa lost his mother when he was only three years old.
He remained with the father but calamity struck again as he also died when he was still in primary school. And from there, life was never going to be the same again for the future leader.
The young Outa was forced to drop out of school and start leading street life. But God intervened.
An American couple working to rehabilitate street children came his way and took him back to school. This proved to be the turning point in his life.
He won a scholarship to the US and came back to Kenya with three degrees: Bsc. ( Health Management) from the City University of New York, M.A in Theology from School of Theology, California, and M.A in Intercultural Studies, from the Biola University, California. Besides these, he holds various diplomas and Certificates.
Outa ventured into politics in 2007, trying his luck to unseat then Nyando MP Eric Nyamunga, which he won. And from there, a firebrand politician was born.
He would defend his seat in 2013 amid stiff opposition. And for 2017, he went for the bigger Senate seat which he won by a landslide.
With attention now shifting to 2022, Outa who has had a controversial political life is dreaming even bigger. His dream is to inherit the Governor seat from Prof.Anyang Nyong'o and is already beating political drums. Will he?
