MCA joined street life at the tender age of 12, and by then he was a mere a student from Ikungu Primary School in Makindu, Mombasa. His friends had advised him to move to town and in the process he faced a survival-for-the-fittest life on the streets, facing all the challenges.

“For three years, I experienced the vagaries of street life in Nairobi’s Saika estate, during which I worked as a vegetable errand boy to and from Gikomba market to survive,” he says and adds that delinquency, hunger and mistreatment by indifferent members of public were a constant companion in his life.

Life on the streets became so harsh until the street boys formed comedy, known as Barikiwa where they staged shows in various colleges.

On February, Churchill Show visited the group and the young man emerged the best in the entire group. He was adopted to join Churchill Show.

“Most people come to a comedy show to enjoy rather than destroy it from the inside. More often than not, if someone is yelling things during a show, that person is drunk and doesn’t realise how loud they are while talking to a friend or perhaps they are just vocally enjoying the show and don’t understand that their action is disruptive,” he said.

MCA Tricky, the last born in the family of three hopes to mentor the less fortunate members in society.
