Evans Njuguna who sells fruits near St Mulumba Hospital in Thika says that since he started selling fruits at the area four years ago, January has always proved to be a good month for him.

"January unlike what many people say isn't a bad month as such especially in this fruit selling business", said Njuguna.

He added: "The fact that there is scarcity of fruits due to the dry January weather enables me to sell the fruits that I source from my suppliers at a slightly high profit than the other times".

Njuguna also says that the strategic location of his fruits business also enables him maximize his earnings.

"Even people coming from the villages to look after their sick relatives at St Mulumba Hospital rarely come with fruits during this month. Many end up coming to buy here", he said.

So, as you continue fighting with pennilessness and perhaps debts this 'Njaanuary', bear in mind that for some this is the time they are making hay because the sun is shining on them.
