IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati had succeeded in convincing the full plenary of commissioners to endorse the project team that will be answerable to his Presidential Election Steering Committee.
The committee will comprise all the six commissioners and the chairman.
However, attention has shifted to those the chairman dropped from the commission's work as the repeat election date draws near.
Notable among those affected by the axe was CEO Ezra Chiloba whom the opposition NASA has been saying must exit the commission before the repeat elections.
SImilarly Silas Rotich, Ben Misati and Nancy Kariuki who had made it to Chebukati's list did not make it to the new team.
Rotich had been assigned head of the national tallying centre, Misati head of training, while Kariuki was to be head of logistics.
Chebukati's axe also fell on Chiloba's deputy Betty Nyabuto and director of voter registration and election operations Immaculate Kasait.
Manager of operations Mwaura Kamwati and head of ICT James Muhati were also axed.
It now remains speculative whether the NASA and Jubilee factions will both accept the latest changes and agree to face each other on October 27.
