Kwale County Governor Salim Mvurya has officially opened a fully functional Intensive Care Unit flanked by his Deputy Fatuma Achani.
Msambweni Referral Hospital now houses the second ICU wing in the whole coastal region.
"This is an achievement that we’re all grateful for," he said.
Already 31 patients have been served since November 2017 with some referrals being of patients from various coastal counties to Msambweni Referral Hospital.
"The County set aside a budget to construct the facility and the National Government through H.E Uhuru Kenyatta donated the state of the art ICU machines. A gesture that I really appreciate," added Mvurya added on Thursday.
He reiterated that he would work with all partners for the interests of the people of Kwale.
"This ICU is one of the many gains Kwale has achieved through the cordial relations with the National Government," he said.
