The MP, while speaking to boda boda operators at Kinyango trading center on Thursday, said the center will help counsel and provide support to drug addicts

Kuria said that the facility, which will be established at Kinyango trading center will commence soon.

“The Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has set aside Sh40 million that will see a rehabilitation center established to cater for drug addicts,” he said.

The MP said that drug abuse remains the bigest hurdle among young people in the constituency and neighbouring areas.

He observed that many youths have been lured and fallen to drug abuse and trafficking, adding that as a result, many families have been left poor and broken.

Kuria said he will initiate more initiatives meant to address the problem, which he said if not tackled will see the area remain poor.

The lawmaker appealed for support from the county and the national government, saying they have a big role to play.

The MP further appealed to the government to start campaigns that will sensitize youth on effects of drugs.

Kuria asked youths to shun drug abuse, and instead work with the county government to promote development.
