A funeral in Migori was dramatically called off after a man supposed to be dead was spotted drinking at a local bar as mourners arrived.

According to the Standard, Wilson Oluoch had earlier gone missing some three weeks before and when villagers found a decomposed male body in a sugarcane plantation, the family believed it was his.

They quickly organised for burial and friends and relatives started tricking in.

However, shortly before the funeral someone came and told the family that he had seen a man who looked like Wilson drinking at a nearby bar in Rongo.

When relatives arrived at the bar, they found Wilson there, alive alright save for being drunk.

Wilson explained that he had decided to leave home and find life elsewhere after getting home drunk one day.

This turned the funeral into celebrations of joy and set the family working on cleansing the home according to the Luo culture.

The body of the man earlier thought to be Oluoch was then taken to the local morgue and rests awaiting identification.
