A funeral service in Nyachenge area in Kisii south Sub County was on Tuesday stopped as the family of the deceased had not acquired a burial permit as required per the law.
According to the area Chief Charles Otondi, the family of the late Daniel Onduso had not acquired a burial permit and hence they had to stop the burial until the family ensures that they process the document.
Accompanied by some of the administration police the chief said that it was against the law to conduct any burial service without the burial permit which was mandatory.
The chief called upon the public not to dispose of the remains of their loved ones without proper documentation as that will disrupt the government from having crucial data information.
“The family of the late Daniel Onduso has to arrange for the burial after getting the burial permit from the registrar of births and deaths,” he added.
Richard Onduso the brother to the deceased said that they were expecting to get the permit by Friday which failed and they are now looking forward to ensuring that they get it so that the burial can continue.
“We are sorry that the burial won’t take place on Tuesday as earlier planned and we are looking to receive the document so that we can bury our brother,” he added.
