Ugali, a mixture of either maize or wheat flour, has many ways of being cooked. Different people cook and enjoy this delicacy their way. Here are some of the funny ways people cook ugali:
1. Mixing ugali with salt to add taste- I met individuals who boiled water then add salt to add flavour to ugali. Interrogating them further they said that they preferred it because of taste and it can also be taken individually in case you lack stew.
2. Mixing ugali with margarine - There are individuals as they boil water for cooking they put margarine such as blue band to add colour and taste appeal to food. Also, it helps in not allowing the remains that take long to come off during washing. Thus, the ugali would not easily stick on the utensil used for cooking.
3. Adding the remainder of the ugali with water as a means of recycling it and minimizing wastage.
4. Adding hot water to an already cooked ugali in case a visitor joins you while you were cooking so as to increase the share.
5. Finally, making a cross on the initial flour before you start kneading ugali with a cooking stick. This was mainly exercised by people of Christian religion who believed that in case you forget to pray, God will have remembered it at the very start. Enjoy your ugali!
