Over the weekend, Khalwale demanded that Raila apologises to Luhya community for betraying it after the contested August elections.

“I respect Raila as a senior statesman but this political deception ought to cease. He cannot use the Luhya community as a bridge for his selfish gains.

“I request him to also support Musalia Mudavadi or Wetangula in 2022 if at all he wants us to trust him in the future,” Khalwale fired back.

But in Busia On Sunday, Raila differed with Khalwale insisting that the country is beyond tribal groupings which he said are dangerous for democracy.

“We must learn to broaden our thinking outside communities. What I did was for the common good of Kenyans. Those forming tribal grouping should desist from misleading our people,” he said.

Both Musalia and Wetangula have indicated that ANC and Ford Kenya, which have a strong backing in Western Kenya, could merge before 2022 elections.
