Gatundu south MP, Moses Kuria, on Tuesday cast aspersions on the video of Kirinyaga Deputy Governor.
Peter Ndambiri, that has been doing rounds on social media.
According to the lawmaker, the whole thing was just a set up by extortionists in order to extort money from him.
Through his facebook post, he said that paying such people would only mean encouraging criminals who should instead be reported to police.
Mr. Kuria furiously reveals how he could have handled the situation.
"I always say it is nonsensical to pay anyone so as not to give a story to the media. That breeds extortion and encourages criminal networks to thrive.
"It is a pity that the Kirinyaga DG did not immediately report such extortionists to the police. If it were me I would simply have paid them off with the middle finger.
However, the legislator asked Mr. Ndambiri to still report the matter to police.
"These cartels are rampant, especially in Kiambu county. I still urge him to report to the police. It is the right thing to do," he posted.
Social media sites have been awash with a video of the Kirinyaga deputy governor showing how he was busted in a lodge with someone's wife.
In the video, some young men are shown assaulting Mr. Ndambiri together with the woman alleged to be someone's wife.
The video has since raised different reactions from many social media users with some people agreeing that it was indeed a set up to extort money from the deputy governor.
