If governors want to further development in their counties they must first stop the constant politicking and become investor-friendly.
This is according to Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking at Diani Reef Hotel during the council of governors induction on Saturday, Ruto condemned a section of governors whom he accused of behaving like activists and comedians.
He said these governors have been scaring away investors from their counties.
"We should not scare away hope of development by carrying twigs. If we leaders carry twigs then what should activists do," he said.
Citing an unnamed county, the DP said goons chased away potential investors who had gone to attend an investment seminar.
"Investors were attacked and chased away by goons in one county and leaders are saying that "we don't want seminars in our areas," he said.
"If you are at the fore front of demonstrations in your county as a governor then how do you expect investors to settle in that area?"
"Our offices are open any time for consultation on development. We will support you in delivering services to the people," Ruto added.
