Kenyans on social media expressed disappointment in government, after the High Court in Nairobi issued warrants of arrest against Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) officials, Tuesday.
This is after they failed to present themselves in Court, for hearings.
Justice Hellen Wasilwa ruled that the doctors had failed to appear in Court for sentencing for contempt of Court, and asked Kilimani OCS Ronald Ngau to enforce the orders.
Kenyans on Twitter (KoT) could not hide their disappointment, and 'reigned' on the government, wondering why doctors should be arrested for demanding for their rights.
They demanded that before the doctors' officials get arrested, Interior and Coordination Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho and National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, should fast be arrested.
Court ordered for the arrest and jailing of Kibicho, for contempt of Court, but he was not arrested. For Duale, he is accused of inciting youth in his Garissa Township Constituency, to drive away Kenyans of Kamba community from the region, and prevent them from registering as voters.
@JacksonArunga posted: "In Kenya when you are not an MP and you request for pay hike the government intimidates you with arrest warrants just like in KMPDU case.''
@Asamoh_ posted: ''Using the COURT to intimidate @kmpdu officials won't fix the health crisis. @PoliceKE should execute arrest warrant on PS Kibicho @JBoinnet.''
@BelAkinyii said: "Where's the arrest warrant on Duale before you arrest KMPDU officials. This government though.''
"PS Kibicho has 2 arrest warrants. PoliceKE should start with him before pouncing on kmpdu officials. JBoinnet Disembe #LipaKamaTender,'' said @giveawayvorx.
"Court orders for arrest of KMPDU officials led by Dr Ouma Oluga, was interior PS Karanja Kibicho arrested as per court orders to begin with?'' wondered @AugustineAlanga.
