President Uhuru Kenyatta has demanded an explanation on why there was poor mobilisation of Kenyans during the Jamhuri Day celebrations on December 12.

The celebrations were held at the Kasarani International Sports Stadium.

But the 60, 000 people capacity stadium was 'empty' to an extent that the arrival of President Kenyatta was delayed to allow more mobilisation.

During a Jubilee parliamentary session at State House, sources said Uhuru lamented it was an embarrasment to himself to address and empty stadium.

Politicians however blamed civil servants tasked with organising the event.

They said being a state function, county commissioners and other civil servants in the jurisdiction were in charge of the function.

Politicians told Uhuru to 'punish' those who were involved with planning.
