Ex-Senate Minority Leader Moses Wetangula insists that opposition chief Raila Odinga is secretly planning to run for 2022 polls.

Early this month, Raila dismissed claims that he is planning to try his luck for the fifth time after four failed attempts.

"I am not running for president and this handshake has nothing to do with 2022 polls. I am committed to see the handshake working," said Odinga.

But Wetangula, has has often accused Raila for his ouster from Senate leadership, said he is ready to face the former Prime Minister.

Further, Wetangula said, the much anticipated Luhya unity was unstoppable adding that Raila is unwelcome in the merger.

"It is business unusual in Western . The crowds have dwindled and the welcome he used to enjoy is no longer there. I can see him running in 2022 and we will meet him in the field," he said.

"He is just using the handshake to consolidate support. We know all his plans but he won't succeed this time."

Both Ford Kenya and ANC parties are expected to merge, a move which aim sat consolidating over 2 million Luhya votes.
