A total of thirteen school girls have been found pregnant at Tangulbei Secondary school in Tiaty East Baringo County.
According to the Baringo County director of Education Willie Machacho, nine of the girls have dropped out of school.
Machacho who made an impromptu visit to the school to ascertain the number of girls who had dropped out of school as a result of pregnancy said some of the girls had been absent from school for a long time and decided to follow-up on the matter.
The County education boss said they would follow-up with the matter so that the girls can resume their studies and complete school.
“We will ensure that all the girls resume back to school so that they can proceed with their studies,” Said Machocho.
“I want to urge the school heads to allow the girls to continue studying for the months that they are still in school. They should not be send away from school,” he added.
He also warned those preying on naive school girls.
“We have already recorded the names of those responsible for the pregnancies and we are going to follow-up on the matter until they are brought to book,” the County Education Director said.
