Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation(MFTBC) have announced the launching of their new line of Fuso FJ1623R trucks in Kenya.
MFTBC along with Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (DICV) under the umbrella of Daimler Trucks Asia (DTA) have worked hand in hand with Simba Colt the official distributor of Fuso Trucks in Kenya in building trucks that ‘meet the needs of the local consumers’.
According to Simba Cooperation Chief Executive Officer, Dinesh Kotecha the trucks were created to fit the growth potential shifting to developing markets in African countries and particularly in Kenya.
“Kenya is developing its infrastructure and it is expected that there will be a tremendous growth in the construction and related sector and players in this sector need reliable trucks that are globally bench-marked for greater fuel efficiency, lower maintenance, longer life, and greater reliability,” said Kotecha.
FUSO has been in Kenya for over 30 years a supplied the country with a variety vehicles from light-medium- and heavy-duty trucks to light- medium duty buses.
“Our trucks have a competitive price, and beyond the price there is no doubt that the eventual cost of ownership and maintenance is way more affordable than any other brand in the market,” said Ameet Shroff, the Simba Corp Chief Commercial Officer, Established Brands.
Data indicate that sales of heavy commercial vehicles still account for about 26.8 per cent of the market share and it is believed that construction projects in the country will fuel sales in the heavier segments in coming days.
“Simba Corporation is set to take full ownership of Mombasa-based Associated Vehicle Assemblers (AVA), such that we are a fully Kenyan owned company assembling vehicles in Kenya by Kenyans to build Kenya,” said Mr. Kotecha.
