Embattled Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua has claimed that former Mathira Member of Parliament Ephraim Maina is the one spearheading his impeachment and frustration by county representatives.
Gachagua claimed that various meetings had been convened at Maina's house to discuss on his impeachment.
The meetings, according to Gachagua, were held on several occasions last year.
Gachagua made the claims on Tuesday morning as Senate special committee commenced hearings on his impeachment motion.
The committee is expected to make recommendations and table them before the committee of the whole house.
Governor Gachagua is the fourth governor to face impeachment motion after Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony and his Murang’a counterpart Mwangi Wa Iria retained as claims against them were unfounded while Embu Governor Martin Wambora was found guilty but was reinstated by the courts.
