Embattled Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua has claimed that former Mathira Member of Parliament Ephraim Maina is to blame for his recent imeachment.
Gachagua said that Maina was the mastermind of the whole plan considering that he had been working closely with Members of the County Assembly.
According to Gachagua, Maina had organized and chaired four meeting with MCAs to plan his removal from office.
The meeting s were allegedly held between April 2016 and July 2016 in hotels and the rural home of Maina in Mathira.
In response, Maina has denied the allegation stating he had no hand in the current woes facing Gachagua.
"Those allegations are false and I deny them . I have never been to Green Hills hotel for three years now and have never entertained MCAs in my rural home for the purpose alleged by Gachagua," said Maina while addressing journalists in his Nairobi office on Tuesday.
The businessman lashed out at Gachagua for using his name as a scapegoat and he did not implore the MCAs to unseat Gachagua.
He stated that the representatives are grown-ups who made their own independent decisions.
On Wednesday, Gachagua got a reprieve after the senate overturned his impeachment after MCAs accused him of gross misconduct.
