Impeached Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua has claimed that he was not given a reasonable hearing after Members of County Assembly kicked him out of office.
Addressing the press at his Nyeri home, a day after the County Assembly voted to impeach him, Gachagua said the entire procedure was defective adding that he was yet to get a notification to interdict him from 0ffice.
Gachagua said his legal counselors were denied the chance to present his defence and blamed County Assembly Speaker Mwangi Mugo for being fanatic.
"Indeed, even in an official courtroom, you cannot condemn a man unheard or without listening to his side of the story or chance to react to the charges," he said.
Gachagua said it was against laws and regular standards of equity to be denied the privilege to react.
"MCAs must concoct motivations to back marks and not indicate to indict me on feeble grounds," he said.
The governor noted that the law is all around settled by the Court of Appeal that there must be open support in a prosecution procedure and not only endorsement through the gathering of marks.
He said the County Assembly should have served him with the charges against him no less than three days before the motion was discussed.
