Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has expressed regret and shock following the tragic death of his Nyeri counterpart Wahome Gakuru, Tuesday morning.
Addressing the press at the county headquarters in Eldoret town on Tuesday, Mandago named the late Gakuru as 'one of the best brains in the county.
"We've received the death of governor Gakuru with a lot of shock. People in this county have sent me a lot of condolences messages because they can relate very well to him," Mandago said.
"He is the man behind vision 2030 which is the country's development blue print," he added.
Mandago who was a team leader in one of the two Jubilee Presidential campaigns teams for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto said they worked closely with Gakuru during campaigns for the repeat poll where they traversed over 17 counties together.
"I had talked with him and he was planning to attend the burial of Bishop Korir this Saturday. We regret his death," he said.
