Real estate tycoon David Ngari popularly known as Gakuyo has lauded Kiambu locals for endorsing Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu’s gubernatorial bid.

In an interview with the People Daily, Gakuyo said that Kiambu people did the right thing by rejecting Governor William Kabogo’s r-election bid.

Gakuyo indicated that it a new dawn for Kiambu following Waititu’s massive win in the Jubilee Party nominations.

The real estate tycoon who was among four aspirants who earlier dropped their gubernatorial bid in support of Waititu said that Kabogo had no chance of beating ‘Baba Yao’.

“We put in place a spirited campaign based on reforms and promise for development agenda and we thank Kiambu people for endorsing Baba Yao,” he said as quoted by the People daily.

Gakuyo said that Waititu’s leadership is what Kiambu people need for development.

He accused Governor Kabogo’s administration of frustrating development and allegedly despite his government receiving huge funding.

Gakuyo claimed that Kabogo’s administration has done nothing to alleviate poverty and unemployment in the county.

Kabogo had exudedconfidence of trouncing ‘Baba Yao’ in the nomination based on his development track record.

He, however, conceded early defeat to Waititu in the Jubilee Party nomination on Tuesday moments after the nomination results had started to trickle in.

The Governor claimed that the nomination exercise had allegedly been influenced by unnamed powerful individuals who he said did not want him to be Kiambu governor.

Official results reported by the Star show that Waititu garnered 353,604 votes against Kabogo's 69,916.
