An ODM MCA aspirant for Garissa’s Galbeth ward seat Abdirizak Ismail is a happy man, after a Nairobi court ruled on Thursday that he should be given the ODM certificate.

Ismail has been battling with the incumbent Ibrahim Ali over the ticket for a month now, and Thursday's ruling will come as a welcoming relief.

This is after area returning officer Dulacha Boru rejectedIsmail's papers when he tried to present them to the IEBC offices on May 28.

According to the Star, the two had taken the case to the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal and the IEBC dispute resolution tribunal, which referred the matter to ODM for fresh nominations.

Ismail, while addressing the press outside the IEBC offices after being given the IEBC nomination certificate, apologized to the people for being subjected to ‘a lot of anxiety.’

He urged aspirants to conduct peaceful campaigns, further advising residents to shun politics of division.
