Nominated Senator Beatrice Elachi has raised concern over the level of gambling in the Country.
She called on relevant bodies to look into the matter. Elachi said the recent surge in gambling had also eroded morals and values among school children.
According to Elachi, gambling passes a wrong message to the young people in the society, making them believe life was all about shortcuts.
"We have a gambling problem in the Country. This is further worsened by the introduction of smart phones in the market. Children have now plunged to the gambling craze and are wasting time trying to find a shortcut to success in life," said Elachi.
"The gambling craze in the Country is solely to blame for the erosion of values among the children in the society and this should be brought to an end. Children should be concentrating on their studies and not gambling," she added.
Elachi further called on the parents and leaders in the society to find a way of curbing the menace.
She was speaking during an interview on a local television station, Wednesday.
