The county chief said despite the government’s efforts to end the gambling businesses in Nyamira still some people are coming up with similar businesses secretly.

Nakoru said that gambling has increased theft in the region since gamblers should steal to have money to place bets, play cards and casino games.

“Gambling in Nyamira is illegal because we want our youths to go to school. Any trader who will be found with the gambling machines will not be spared by the law.

"Nyamira residents should do legal businesses to avoid being on the wrong side of the law,” he noted.

Nakoru regretted that there are some police officers who are also gamblers something that has made it difficult to end gambling businesses in the region.

“I hear some police officers are gamblers playing casinos with youths in the region. Any officer who will be found guilty will have to face severe consequences because government officers should be at the forefront protecting the law so that common citizens can follow,” he added.
