Three campaigners attached to Uasin Gishu county governor, Jackson Mandago, were attacked and injured by unknown persons, Saturday night, in Eldoret.
According to Langas OCPD, Wilson Abduba who confirmed the attack, the gang blocked Mandago’s campaigners' car near the police station.
Reports indicate the attackers used clubs to beat up the three before fleeing away. One of the gang members is said to have accused Mandago’s team of causing political hitches in the county.
One of the victims, Jairo Mutai, alleged the attack was politically motivated.
“They blocked the road using a matatu, pulled us out of our car and started beating us up. We were saved by good Samaritans before police arrived,” said Mutai.
Abduba said investigations into the incident have been launched.
The attack comes barely a week after Bundotich ‘Buzeki’ Kiprop, who is Mandago’s rival escaped unhurt after being stoned in Eldoret town.
His five bodyguards were injured while his car was badly damaged.
