Police in Nakuru have launched a man hunt for a gang that has been terrorizing residents of Muchorwi village in Kuresoi North .
A suspected robber was on Wednesday night set ablaze following a botched robbery in the area.
The suspect was among others who fled but he was cornered by angry residents after the gang threatened to kill a local trader.
Spent cartridges were recovered from the suspect before he was set ablaze.
Zainab Mumbua says the suspect was armed with a pistol and at one time threatened to shoot his husband and child.
A ten year old girl was also defiled during the attack.
Following this, members of the public who responded to screams by the family accosted the suspect and set him ablaze as his two accomplices fled.
According to Wesley Bii, a resident of Muchorwe, cases of crime have been on the rise in the area and called on police to intensify patrols.
Sentiments echoed by Earnest Mwangi who has fallen victim to the attackers in the area.
He attributed the attacks to a gang of seven and that after raising alarm, members of the public responded but the suspects fled.
