Police in Suneka town in Bonchari Sub-county have launched investigations into an incident in which a 30-year-old woman was found raped and murdered in her house.
Kisii South OCPD David Mburukwa confirmed that the body of Rebecca Mogotu of Riamasagara location in Suneka town was found on her bed strangled early Tuesday morning.
“Her five-year-old daughter, who was sleeping in the house with her, noticed that she was dead and raised an alarm," she said.
"We are looking into the matter as to whether someone broke in through the wall raped and strangled her,” noted the OCPD
According to her neighbors’, Mogotu who looked jovial the previous day appeared to have been strangled.
The police boss confirmed that the body was taken to Nyangena mortuary and that they were waiting for a postmortem report to confirm the rape allegations.
“There were signs of struggling on the bed where her body lay and the culprits seem to have broken in her house before they raped and killed her,” he added.
He called upon the residents to help police identify the gang that committed the act so that they can be arraigned in court.
