Confirming the incident, Likoni DCIO David Siele, said the gang of three men stole from three different locations in Likoni.

In the first incident, the gang stormed an M-Pesa shop in Ijara area Likoni, stealing Sh200,000.

Siele said the robbers also stole cosmetics and six mobile phones from the shop, before shooting the businessman identified as Mr Kelvin Anunda.

“The victim was shot in his leg by the armed gangsters after he refused to hand over the money to the suspects,” said Siele on Thursday.

The police said two used cartridges which were found at the scene, are believed to belong to a G3 riffle that was stolen from a police station two months ago.

In the second robbery, the suspects got away with Sh4,000 from a different shop before stealing a safe that contained an unknown amount of money in the third incident.

“We are still pursuing the trio who escaped using an unregistered motorcycle. The suspects are behind the rampant robbery incidents witnessed in the area targeting M-Pesa shops,” said Siele.
