Mombasa County Commissioner Maalim Mohamed has put on notice criminals operating in Majengo and Old Town.
Speaking in his office on Monday, Maalim promised to tame the gangs that have been harassing residents.
"It will not be business as usual for the criminal gangs attacking residents in Old town and Majengo area. I am issuing a very stern warning to each and every one of them,” said Maalim.
The commissioner vowed to disband criminal gangs in Mombasa County for the safety of the residents and tourists.
This comes after Majengo and Old town residents raised concerns over the state of security in the area, saying they are living in fear following a spate of attacks by a gang of youth operating from the Mombasa Island and some parts of Kisauni.
Maalim urged residents to embrace county security barazas and community policing, as a way to curb the vice in the area.
