At the same time, Nakuru Police boss Benard Kioko urged residents to remain vigilant and help him track down a three-man-gang roaming freely while armed with AK-47 rifle saying it had carjacked a local professional and robbed him of his BMW, Sh 10,000 and an ATM card that they used to withdraw money from a local ATM branch.

In the first incident, police received information that a black Toyota Allion motor vehicle had been stolen from its owner at gunpoint at Mwiki and was being driven towards Nakuru.

Kioko said detectives caught up with the vehicle and followed it unnoticed but on reaching Free Area estate, the gang noticed the police dragnet and attempted to flee on foot while brandishing guns.

"We killed one suspect and recovered a toy pistol while the other two managed to flee into the sprawling estate on foot. We need information on this people since they are armed and dangerous. The vehicle has been recovered and investigations are ongoing," he said.

The police boss said that the Nakuru professional was later left unhurt inside after being driven around Nakuru while locked inside the boot of the BMW vehicle.

Kioko said police had provided him with crucial information saying it would be treated with confidence so as to make Nakuru safe.

The two vehicles were taken to Nakuru’s Central Police Station for further forensic analysis to identify the occupants in the ongoing investigation while the fallen suspect's body was taken to Nakuru Municipal Morgue.
