Armed gangsters raided a homestead in Ngoingwa estate on Tuesday in the outskirts of Thika town raped a house girl and escaped with goods of an unknown value.
Officers at the Thika CID department told the press that four gangsters armed with pistols raided the homestead of a 41 year old businessman Stephen Mwangi Macharia at around 8.30pm and took the family hostage for over six hours.
The CIDs said that the thugs had trailed the businessman from Njomoko junction and drove with him into his compound and at gun point ordered him to take them into the house where they ransacked the house for valuables.
Mwangi said that the thugs spent a very long time in the house searching for money and escaped with one Sony flat screen TV, 300 US dollars, Sh3,500 K and an assortment of household goods.
He revealed that the gang raped his 30 year old house help who is currently admitted at the Thika Level 5 hospital for treatment.
Neighbours who answered to their distress call condemned the incident and called for intensified police patrols in the area.
Ngoingwa estate is one of the prestigious estates within Thika town and it hit the headlines early last year when armed gangsters raided a homestead and after holding the family hostage for more than seven hours raped all female members and escaped with unknown amount of money.
