The flats were constructed out of the Kenya Slum Upgrading Program that was funded by UN-Habitat through Ministry of Housing.

In a post shared by Boniface Mwangi, the residents shared their divergent opinions on the shared photo.

Andrew Atwala stated that it is a landlord's responsibility to ensure garbage is collected and well disposed.

Esther Njeri, a user, said:

"Liar! Liar! pants on fire. The dirt you see is a result of poor drenched sewers from railway house project. They built a small sewage that always erupts and the residents have no option but to break the wall that separates the two, so the dirt ends up in the Estate.

Sammy Ataly, a youth leader from Soweto Youth Group (SYG), accused Mwangi of using an old photo to raise an issue that does not exist.

However, Nicodemus Odhiambo is calling upon Kibra residents to join hands and take action against the garbage that is a threat to the health of estate residents.

Calvince Ochieng who lives in the estate stated that ever since the track which used to collect garbage was withdrawn from Kibra, they have been facing the challenge of collection.

He blamed corruption and lack of a clear disposal site for the mess.

David Oyola stated that the area urgently requires clear garbage collection system and modern drainage to address the issue.
