Police in Mombasa have arrested one suspect believed to be behind the murder of two Swiss nationals.
Confirming the arrest, Kisauni Police boss Christopher Rotich said the two Swiss nationals identified as Marrianne Harnel and Werner Bornerv Paul were murdered on Saturday and their bodies dumped in Kiembeni area.According Rotich, the elderly couple was murdered in their home in Nyali where they had lived for more than 20 years.Forensic detectives who visited the deceased’s apartment found the couple’s vehicle which had blood stains.“We suspect that their car, which was parked at the house, was used to transport the bodies and dump them where we found them. We are currently pursuing two other suspects, a night guard and a caretaker who are on the run. The suspect we have arrested told us he had been given the keys to the compound by the caretaker and instructed to look after it,” said the police boss.According to police, the couple had landed at the Moi International Airport on Saturday night and was accosted as they entered their compound by people suspected to be workers.Coast region police boss Larry Kieng said investigations into the incident have been launched, adding that they are trailing the suspects linked to the murder.Kieng said the bodies have been moved to a mortuary in Mombasa where the postmortem will be conducted."The killers will be arrested and taken to court. They can run but we will catch up with them even if they go to the sky,” said Kieng as quoted by The Star.
