Garissa has featured in the list of counties that recorded the lowest proportion of local revenue collected against the annual targets.

In the latest report released by the office of controller of budget, the county's revenue collection lies at 15.6 percent as compared to the top counties like Laikipia, which recorded as high as 78 percent.

The bottom counties in revenue generators include Garissa, Mandera at Sh59.65 million, Lamu with Sh45 million and finally Tana River with Sh18 million collections.

In a sharp contrast to the local annual revenue targets, Laikipia County recorded the highest proportion at 78 per cent, followed by Homa Bay County at 76 per cent and Baringo County with a high of 67.5 percent.

Controller of Budget Ms Agness Odhiambo, through the local Governments' Budget and Implementation Review report, issued that in the report covered the first nine months of 2015/2016 financial year.
