Water and irrigation PS Prof. Fred Segor said through the project, area residents will be able to access clean and safe water which will improve their living standards and also address the food security issue.

Mr Segor said the area residents have been depending on rainwater and seasonal streams which is not reliable as many residents have suffered.

He said the projects are meant to minimise distance and time covered in search for water as the ministry will build water pans, dams and boreholes which will be completed within the next one and three years.

“The idea at the end of the day is to minimize water stress in terms of the number of kilometres people go to fetch water. We intend to ensure that we subscribe to what is expected internationally that people should be able to access water in 30 minutes,” Mr Segor said.
