Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has said the nation is well prepared to feed Kenyans who have been affected by drought, which is expected to continue up January next year.
Some counties have been receiving relief foods for the past three months from the government, and Kiunjuri said that that programme will further be stretched to other areas that are likely to be affected by the drought.
He further pointed out that over Sh358 million has already been set aside to help the affected areas for the coming two months, as the government prepares for a La Nina drought season.
The CS also dismissed fears of food shortage in the country, saying that the government has enough food in the serial stores.
Some of the areas that have experienced drought include Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Tana River, Samburu, Isiolo, Turkana And Laikipia.
