A middle-aged man accused of trafficking youths to Somalia has denied the charges labelled against him, saying he was only doing workforce reinforcement to his charcoal business in Garissa.
Antony Ndung’u denied the charges of being involved in human trafficking when he appeared in court before Senior Resident Magistrate Momanyi Charo.
The court was told that the suspect had hired a matatu with registration number KCF 649W to ferry Lowake Simon 23, James Thuku 26 and Samuel Elimlim 28 to Somalia Nation on July 25 this year.
Ndungu told the court he his a charcoal dealer based in Garissa town and he had just employed the three youths to work on his business.
He added that the three men were to boost his work force and that his arrest had dealt a blow to his business.
While issuing that the three were mature adults of sound mind, Magistrate Momanyi directed the suspect to secure Sh100,000 cash bond for his release awaiting the hearing of his case on August 29.
