Speaking in Medina Health centre in Garissa, the county's Chief Health officer Sofia Mohamed said that the health department will go paperless in the just made deal.

“The world is changing and getting digital. Everything has now been digitised. We also do not want to be left behind. We are going paperless and we shall ensure the Health department gets connected.”

It is now evident that computers will be installed in the 28 facilities; 20 clinics, seven sub-county health centres and also at the Garissa County Referral Hospital.

Speaking on the benefits of getting digital with paperless documentation, Sofia noted that the system will greatly boost service delivery as the system will help hospital managers to keep track on drug usage to detect shortages and the supplies that need to be restocked.

“Once we are through with the installation of the system, we shall have efficient service delivery. The Electronic Health Managements System will help us keep track of drugs and their usage,” Mohamed said.

The digitization project will be completed in September this year.
