Garissa county government has been lauded for its commitment in availing quality health and childcare services.
Unicef Kenya representative Werner schultink said Garissa is one of the counties that has witnessed tremendous progress in medical care.
“I'm so much thrilled to see Garissa county ascend to greater heights in providing counseling, legal aids and referral medical services to young children who are in gross contact with the law," the Unicef official said.
County Deputy Governor Abdullahi thanked the global organization for the their mighty support to the county, noting that primary health facilities, community units and the two maternity units in Garissa town have greatly boosted health care services in the county.
“As a county we are much gratified of the support our partners specially the Unicef are giving us. We shall be strengthening our devolution journeys to achieve enhanced health service delivery across the county,” Abdullahi said.
Garissa County Referral Hospital currently hosts maternal shelter that accommodates nomadic high risk pregnancy women who have access to specialized care.
