The Garissa County government has hinted on plans to soon convene its first business and investment summit following its recent connection to the country's power grid.
Governor Jama says his administration has already identified ten major business investment opportunities that are expected to be of interest to domestic and international firms.
Speaking to the media at his office on Tuesday, Jama affirmed that the connection of Garissa Town and its surrounding environs to the national grid is a major selling point for the county. He further said that his government is right on track to realising the 24-hour economy.
‘'All our previously unfulfilled economic provisions like setting up of regional slaughterhouses, fruit processing factories, and tanneries will now proceed without hiccups. We now have a very reliable and clean energy that is business friendly,'’ said Jama.
As part of his projected developments, Jama expressed optimism of having a vibrant livestock-based economy, confirming that animals would no longer be transported way far to Nairobi slaughterhouses.
The governor also commended regional security agencies for their devotion to fighting crime, confiding his delight that the county has enjoyed moments of peace for the past one year.
