Garissa County workers have called upon the Governor Ali Korane to move fast and ensure that they get their salaries.

The workers have been lamenting over unpaid salaries for the month of July and August. They workers said that the county boss promised to address the issue but nothing is forthcoming.

The workers, who spoke to a local daily on condition of anonymity, said that life has become unbearable because of the unpaid salaries.

“When the governor was sworn in he promised to give the issue a priority by ensuring that we are paid in a weeks’ time. It is now two weeks and no communication is forthcoming,” said one the workers, as quoted by Star.

The officer also said that they have been unable to settle their bills and pay fees because of unpaid salaries yet schools have already opened.

“How do they think we are surviving? Some of us have school going children and we are required to pay their fees," he added.

This is after Garissa governor Ali Korane sent a section of officers in his staff on compulsory leave for efficient service delivery.
