Garissa Deputy Governor (DG) Abdi  Dagane has urged residents  to turn out in large numbers and vote in the Thursday repeat presidential election.

Dagane wants residents not to fear for their safety saying that adequate securitybwill be provided by the  national government before, during  and after the repeat poll.

Speaking to journalists at Garissa Town on Saturday, the deputy governor also  asked locals to ignore opposition election boycott calls.

Dagane said that NASA is courting violence by asking Kenyans to boycott the repeat poll.

He said that the oppsotion has no right to call for election boycott.

"I want to urge Garissa residents  and Kenyans at large to turn out and vote on Thursday because it is their constitutional right to participate in election by voting," the Garissa deputy governor told journalists on Saturday.

Dagane further urged residents  to vote for president Uhuru Kenyatta saying that Jubilee government has pushed for key  development in Garissa and the larger North Eastern region.

Dagane said that Uhuru's government  has been able to restore security in Northern Kenyan.

"Today we are not disturbed by terrorist groups as the case was earlier and this courtesy of Jubilee government," he added.

Eligible Kenyans are preparing to vote in the repeat presidential poll on Thursday. 

The government has already declared  Thursday as public holiday to enable Kenyans vote.

This comes as the first consignment of ballot papers arrived  in the country on Saturday evening with the next consignment set to arrive on Monday and Tuesday before being distributed across the country on Wednesday ahead of the Thursday repeat poll.

The opposition maintains that there will be no election on Thursday next week with NASA leader expected to issue directions to his supporters on Wednesday on what they should during the  Thursday repeat poll.

The goverment  has  send a stern warning to opposition pleaders against plot to sabotage the repeat presidential election.
