Speaking in Garissa town during a press conference on Tuesday, the elders challenged all the aspirants to stop spreading propaganda which could eventually divide the country.

“Our country is bigger than any of us. Any utterances that could divide people and cause hate are highly condemned. Politicians should sell their manifestoes in a peaceful way and leave people to make choices of their desire,” said Hussein Abdi, a local elder.

In a different note, the elders challenged Garissa youths to avoid idleness and look for business opportunities.

“The number of idling youths is worrying. Such youths could easily be used by the politicians for their own selfish gains. We appeal to the county government to help such youths start up small businesses,” the elders added.
