A gay couple from Garissa County was attacked and seriously injured by a homophobic mob at Mororo town in a suburb village of Tana River County. The two lovebirds sustained fractured bones on their faces with one of them losing his left eye after receiving hefty punches that directly landed in the eyes.The two male lovers are both from Garissa County and are reported to have been in an open relationship for the past two years.

Witnesses reported that the duo had decided to go to Mororo, which is famously known for the cool breeze brought about by the adjacent by River Tana. 

However, the lovers were lucky to survive after being rescued by police officers who were manning the hotel. 

The officers were forced to fire severally in the air to disperse  the rowdy mob. The officers then  arrested the couple and directly took to police custody in  the nearby Garissa which they  later released them since no charges could be labelled against them. What is more disturbing is that none of the violent attackers was arrested or even charged in court.
