Jama told a press conference at the Garissa County headquarters on Wednesday that the four executives had failed in their duties and he had to relieve them.

The sacked executives are drawn from Water, Trade, Environment and Education dockets.

"We need people who can deliver services to the people of Garissa. There is no room for laxity and every county employee must deliver without fail. I have taken the decision after the public complained much about the four," said Jama.

The Governor revealed that last week he had asked the four to explain to him in writing within three days why they should not be dismissed on grounds of incompetence.

The process to replace the executives, Jama said, had already started as the names of the new appointees will be tabled before the county assembly soon for approval.

At the same time County Secretary, Muhammed Mursal said that many incompetent county staff will be dismissed soon without any further warning.
