The governor of Garissa Ali Korane has earlier today flagged off a fleet of vehicles transporting 59 children battling cardiac issues to a medical camp in Mai Mahiu.
Governor Korane revealed on his Twitter handle that the County Government of Garissa would cater for accommodation, travel and medical expenses for the children.
''Earlier this morning, My government has sponsored 59 children with heart-related illnesses to a cardiac camp in Mai Mahiu. Accommodation, travel and medication cost is fully catered for by the County government of Garissa.'' He tweeted.
Residents have been reacting to the gesture, thanking the governor for his actions.''I am so proud of my governor for his intervention in the plight of the children,'' Abdi Osman, a resident says.
''Korane gesture is praiseworthy... God bless him. Wish other governors would be as humane,'' Peter Muthomi posted on Twitter.
''Oh my... This is so cute of governor Korane,'' Suzie Ondimu.
Garissa has been grappling with a weak healthcare system, necessitating the transportation of the kids to Mai Mahiu.
