Garissa aspirant for the post of county women rep aspirant Ebla Europe Sahal has said the North Eastern region is full of mediocre politicians whose major interests revolve on enriching themselves at the expense of serving the electorate.
Citing findings from her 22-day political tour across 52 centers in Lagdera and Dadaab constituencies, Ebla claims that mediocre political leadership was not helping the dire situation.
She adds that the myriad of challenges chocking the residents require an urgent move to the political negotiating table to lobby for more opportunities and goodies from the national government to supplement the devolved resources.
"NEP counties started the game of resource sharing 50 years late and by just using one formula that does not up to anything meaningful. Such is not the right prescription for Dadaab, Balambala, Lagdera, Fafi, Ijara, and even Garissa Township," she said.
"Debilitating drought situation, dehumanizing inter-clan conflicts, diminishing surface waters, deteriorating healthcare services, disengaged political representation, destabilized ecosystem and widespread deforestation, disenfranchised and dis-empowered populace among others are some of the uncountable challenges facing the Garissa people," she added.
With these in mind, the vibrant politician now calls on the residents to make informed decisions while voting for their preferred candidates right from the April party nominations to the August general elections.
