Residents of Garissa county and its surroundings can now breathe with a sigh of relief following the health initiative by a team of heart specialists from the United States to visit the region and help kids with heart ailments.
The specialists from the Heart Gift Health Foundation are set to be in the county as from this week and will help with the screening of children with heart conditions for possible surgeries.
Families whose children will have been diagnosed with cardiac ailments will be directed to the possible measures of helping their kids live comfortable lives even as they seek long-term interventions to address the situation.
In the recent past, another team of health specialists has since booked at least 31 children for surgeries at the Kijabe hospital.
To show solidarity with the team of experts, the Garissa Deputy county Governor Abdi Dagane has said the local government would largely support the medical camp and that it will meet the costs of accommodation, transport expenses for parents, their ailing kids for the operation at the Kijabe Mission Hospital.
