A section of leaders from Garissa County have called for peaceful co-existence among Kenyans now that the electioneering period is over.

Led by the national chairman of the Livestock Marketing Council, Dubat Amey, the leaders urged Kenyans to respect the rule of law and co-exist peacefully.

Mr Amey said although Kenyans support different political parties it should not affect communities staying side by side as they’ve done for many years.

The leaders emphasized that no Kenyan is above the law and the interest of the country supersedes that of any individuals, irrespective of their social status.

Garissa county Supkem chairman Abdullahi Salat cautioned the youth, especially those who lost in the August 8 polls, against using a social media platform to abuse elected leaders.

Mr. Amey urged National Super Alliance (NASA) to seek other ways of addressing their grievances that will not affect the country negatively.

He advised Mr. Raila Odinga to recognize President Uhuru Kenyatta as the legitimately elected leader before demanding for electoral justice.

“The NASA coalition concerns are genuine, but the manner in which they want them addressed is wrong. Kenyans are losing lives because of a few selfish leaders who have put their interest above that of the common mwananchi,”

“President Uhuru Kenyatta, being the figure of national unity, should start bringing Kenyans together, irrespective of whether they voted for him or not,” Mr Amey said.
